Your expertise, and who can help

In short

Set your level per area under Account → Expertise. When anyone needs help, colleagues at Working or Expert who said they can be asked are offered first (free), then a Sapilon expert with the price shown up front.

Sapilon asks one question the first time it matters: Do you work on software yourself? If you don’t, that’s the whole of it. The agent treats you as non-technical and offers a qualified person whenever a change needs one.

If you do, open Account → Expertise and rate yourself in each area: Software Architect, Backend, Frontend, Security, UI/UX and the rest of the expert catalog.

The four levels

Level Meaning
None No hands-on experience
Basic I can follow along and ask good questions
Working I do this regularly in my job
Expert I’d review someone else’s work in this

Levels are self-declared. Pick the one you’d stand behind in front of a colleague.

What your levels change

  • The agent. Some actions, such as adding a dependency, dropping a column or touching secrets, need someone who knows the area. The level needed depends on the stage: dropping a column before production is low risk, while on Live it needs an Expert. If your level clears it, the agent goes ahead. If not, it stops and offers to hand the task on. See when the agent stops.
  • Who your teammates can ask. From Working up, a switch says Teammates can ask me. It turns on the first time you pick Working or Expert, and you can turn it off per area.

Who sees what

Your teammates see only the areas where you’re Working or Expert and can be asked, as chips on the Members page. Basic and None are never shown to them. People outside your organization never see your levels. Sapilon staff can, to route requests.

When you need help

Whether it starts from a blocked agent action or from picking an area on the Experts page, Sapilon shows who can help, in this order:

  1. In your team. Up to three colleagues who can be asked, Experts first. Asking one creates a task assigned to them in the project, with a notification. It’s free: it’s your team’s time.
  2. Sapilon experts. The area’s expert, with its starting price. You see the quote before any paid work begins (see expert work pricing).

Nothing is assigned on a profile alone. You always choose.
